Well, hello there! By day, I am a multi-state lobbyist for a non-profit organization focused on education and college readiness. By weekend, my husband and I are hopeless wanderlusts. We are Houstonians by choice, and are so proud to call Texas home. We love living in Houston and enjoy learning more about what the city has to offer, especially in the way of culture, entertainment and joie de vivre. I travel extensively for work and my husband and I travel frequently for pleasure and bleasure (business+pleasure). We welcomed our son, George, into the family in October 2013 and we could not be happier. We have slowed down a bit since then…but not entirely. Once a wanderlust, always a wanderlust!
In addition to traveling, my general interests are food, wellness, Pilates, photography, reading, laughing, fresh flowers, socializing, family time and fine china. I also love to run and always seem to be training for something. In fact, I have run the Chicago Marathon three times (2006, 2007 & 2010), completed many half marathons, 10Ks, and 5Ks, and am currently enjoying opportunities to run local (short) races.
Originally from Baytown, Texas, I lived in Austin for eight years before moving to Houston in 2006. While living in Austin, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies, a certificate in Nonprofit & Philanthropic Studies, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration (Educational Policy & Planning) from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Master of Public Administration from Texas State University. I spent my “spare” time working at the State Capitol (and in state government) and managed to meet and marry my husband in between school, work and a very active social life.
I have been blogging since 2009 and really enjoy sharing my life with family and close friends. Over the years, this blog has picked up more readers than I imagined possible. That being said, I am glad you’re here too.
Finally, if you couldn’t tell, I clearly suffer tremendously from MCS (Middle Child Syndrome); hence this blog. You can e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
