We had a blissful night’s sleep for our first night in St. Andrews. I woke up early (relatively speaking – with 9 hours of sleep!) and John and George each had 10 hours full hours of sleep. More than anything, I love how much sleep/rest we all had on this trip.
Since the weather forecast called for sunny skies (a rare treat in this area!), we decided to cram in as much as we could. We had breakfast at the hotel’s Atrium Restaurant – which offered a giant buffet.
Now, you know how I feel about buffets…however, this one passed inspections.
We each ate to our hearts content without stuffing ourselves. For example, I had a vegetable omelette with a side of fruit.
After breakfast, we dressed George and drove to “downtown” St. Andrews. Our first stop was the home of gold – St. Andrews links.
We spent some time checking out the Old Course and the pro shops surrounding it.
We also did some exploring and popped into some of the shops in town.
We also walked along the famous “Fife Coastal Path” and spent some time at the St. Andrews Castle and Cathedral.
Afterwards, we were famished, so we popped into The Vic for lunch.
We enjoyed a really casual lunch and no one was happier than George. This kid can eat!
After lunch, we did some more exploring before the skies threatened with heavy rain and mean clouds. We eventually made our way back to the hotel for some rest and relaxation. George and John took a nap and I took an nap and I watched some bad television. It was perfect.
We had dinner at La Cuvina, the hotel’s Italian restaurant. Our food was delicious and the service was great.
After dinner, we took a long walk around the hotel property.
This was a great way to end the day.
