Week Twenty Two Remodel Update: December 28 – January 3

Since I have many new visitors to this blog as of the past few weeks, I thought it would be best to provide a quick overview of what’s going on here. Here are the highlights:

 – We purchased a home in August (affectionately known as Contour) and we are in the midst of extensive renovations. We are using a contractor that we know and trust, and an architect that came recommended to us by our longtime realtor.

– We sold our beloved Cliffwood in October 2015 after weeks of negotiations, and set a December 15, 2015 close date.

– We ended up closing on the 14th of December and moved into the Westin Galleria on the 12th of December. We stayed there until the 28th when we moved into the Westin Playa Conchal in Costa Rica for some R&R. We are back in residence at the Westin Galleria as of January 3rd.

Progress: Since we spent the majority of the week in Costa Rica, we made our single visit to Contour on Sunday, January 3rd. The crew spent most of the past week with their families, so there isn’t much to report.

Two major things happened while we were traveling. First, the guys replaced all of the treads and risers on our staircase. Except they didn’t exactly do what we envisioned. Long story short, the treads were too long. So, it’s back to square one on the stairs. Stay tuned.

The second big development was that the crew made some headway on the replacement of some sliding glass doors and the creation of some new windows. There are three places where these projects are happening downstairs and we have progress in two areas. Here is what the progress looks like in the living room.

And this is the emerging situation in the master bedroom.

Details: Thanks to the holidays (which are a wonderful time for families), we are now majorly behind on our renovation (the holidays are a bad time for home renovations and deadlines).

Purchases: None

Challenges: Time keeps sticking past us. Rapidly. We are so eager to move in, but we want everything done correctly and to our expectations.

Wins: We are still living the dream and realize how fortunate we are. Amen. We also had a great trip to Costa Rica and enjoyed some great R&R.
