Timeline: As of today, George is 22 months old!
How We’re Feeling: In a word – fabulous. George, John and I are healthy. Amen!
How George is Changing: George weighed in at 21.7 pounds at his 18 month doctor’s visit and was 32 inches long. I don’t have new stats to share, but we’re fairly certain that George just went through another growth spurt because he sure is feeling heavy and is stretching out. George is wearing 2T and 18-24 month sized clothing these days.
George is a great eater and he is especially loving muffins (especially zucchini and carrot), cantaloupe, grapes, cheese, carrots, smoothies, hot dogs, Trader Joe’s O’s cereal, rice and fruit bars these days. We have been on an all-fruit bar kick over here in terms of dessert. George loves them and sweetly asks for “as-cream (ice cream)” after dinner each night. Adorable. George is also crazy for milk these days. Crazy. This kid guzzles milk every chance he gets.
George’s vocabulary has really exploded since beginning school. Here are a few of my favorite new words/phrases from his vocabulary:
- All done
- Yellow Bee Backpack
- Right back
- I Love You. Next to “Mama,” these are my favorite words to come out of George’s mouth. Swoon.
George has really gotten into pairing two and three words together and it is simply adorable. On the other hand, we are going to really watch we say around George. G really pays attention when we talk and we don’t want him learning any unsavory words and/or phrases. We don’t say too many unsavory things in our home, but we still say some questionable things. Better safe than sorry.
George is also becoming a whiz at learning numbers and letters. It is so cute to hear him recite the letters and numbers that he knows – A, B, C, D, E, G, M, O, P, R, T, X, 1, 2, 3 & 8. He is so proud.
George has sixteen teeth…and we are teething again. All four molars are coming in. Pray for us.
George is still sleeping 10 to 11.5 hours straight at night and 2 to 3 hours during the day in his crib. He occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night, but George is generally a great sleeper.
How I’m Changing (Body After Baby): I am still down 85 pounds and feeling great. More on this topic later. I still have lots to share here!
How I’m Staying Active: Running, walking and strength training are still my exercise of choice these days. I owe you a post on this.
What’s Keeping Me Busy: Motherhood, being a wife, a full-time job and juggling two homes have more than kept me busy lately. To boot, transitioning George into school has been challenging too. And then there are all of the social obligations on my plate. But…I love my life, friends and family. My heart and life are full and I am so blessed.
What’s New with George: I say this every month, but it really does seem that everything is always new with him. George’s school experience is really going well and he is definitely benefiting so much from the new environment. We have discontinued George’s private swim lessons, because we think he needs to be in a more structured setting. We hope to enroll him in group swim classes soon. Also, George is still enjoying the Big Beasts class at Little Gym.
We are really excited that George will be taking gymnastics and Spanish lessons during the school day beginning with the Fall semester. He will also start soccer lessons on Saturdays come September. We are still considering whether he will continue at Little Gym come fall – we don’t want to over schedule Little G, but we do want him to have as much fun and exposure to new activities as possible.
What’s New at Cliffwood: As you may have read, we recently purchased a new home and that means some changes for George’s nursery. Or should I say…George’s big boy room! As we transition into our new home, we are going to transition George’s room too. I purchased some new bedding for George’s toddler bed (his crib will convert into the new bed), new art work and a new piece of furniture for G’s new room (more on that later). We can’t wait to see it all come together soon.
