I hope you and yours had a wonderful Easter weekend. We had a fabulous time at Casa Cliffwood. Our weekend was full of love, laughter, great food and family. But first, let’s back up to Friday…
Friday – John’s parents and brother (Scott) flew in from Arizona on Friday morning. I had to work all day on Friday (even though it was an official work holiday), but made a special dinner for the family while monitoring a legislative hearing. Got to love modern technology! In honor of Good Friday, we had a baked vegetable ziti (I modified this recipe), a fresh salad, and fresh bread from Whole Foods. We also had dessert from Crave Cupcakes to celebrate my brother-in-law’s birthday.
After dinner, we enjoyed the breezy weather and took a walk to the park. Everyone enjoyed watching George run around and play.
Saturday – We met the Arnolds, Hunters and my parents at the Houston Zoo on Saturday morning. This was the first zoo visit for the twins, and it was fun to enjoy a relaxing morning with our families. We have a zoo membership that has already more than paid for itself. For example, all 9 adults were able to get in for free this visit. Since the cost of an adult ticket is $16.00, the savings add up quickly. If you are on the fence about getting a membership, please call me and I will talk you into it. You won’t regret the investment.
Afterwards, we met at Weights and Measures for lunch. The place was packed, but they managed to accommodate our party of twelve pretty quickly. We had a delicious lunch and it was great to introduce the Arizona Arnolds to one of our favorite places in Houston. We are all so proud of Ian and it was fun to show off his new project.
As for lunch, I devoured my carrot pizza and can’t wait to have it again.
After lunch, everyone went their separate ways to enjoy the afternoon and run errands. I took a long walk with George, then he took a long afternoon nap. I took advantage of the downtime and prepped for Easter lunch.
We met the Arnolds for dinner at Pico’s and had a great meal. It has been a few months since we’ve eaten at the restaurant (we’ve had to-go food plenty of times though!), and I forget how much I love the ambiance and service there.
Sunday -The Easter Bunny made a stop at Cliffwood overnight!
John and George had fun going through the basket goodies.
Afterwards, we met the Arnolds at church for Easter Sunday mass.
Afterwards, our families met at Casa Cliffwood for lunch. My parents made BBQ (chicken, sausage and ribs) and potato salad and I made macaroni and cheese with green chile and green bean casserole. We also had some delicious pretzel rolls that the Hunters bought from Weights and Measures. For dessert, I made a cookie cake and a coconut cake (I used this recipe). Everything was a hit!
After lunch, the grandparents hid eggs for George in the living rooms (it was raining outside), then helped him hunt for them. It was so fun to watch George on the hunt.
We spent the rest of the afternoon visiting and relaxing.
The only downside of the weekend was missing the Rosenbergs (they were celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary on a special trip!).
We love our family so much and are blessed to be able to spend so much time with them. Here’s to another great weekend with family!
