George – 15 Months

Timeline: George is 15 months old as of Friday. It sounds cliche, but I can’t believe how quickly time is passing. One minute I had a newborn…now I have a toddler.

How We’re Feeling: We remain incredibly blessed — George, John and I are still very happy and healthy. We have had a very healthy and happy past fifteen months. Amen!

How George is Changing: George weighed in at 21 pounds the last time we were at the doctor’s office (December), but I don’t have an official weight for him now. Let’s just say this kid continues to grow in pounds and in inches. George is still wearing 12-18 month size clothing, but he is growing out of them quickly. George’s feet are also growing rapidly and we have sized out of the shoes that we bought him for the holidays. Oy. We also moved into size 4 diapers!

We are still breastfeeding, and are still deep into the weaning process. George still nurses 3 times a day and eats solid foods three times a day. We somewhat put weaning on hold while we were traveling last month because we didn’t want to change too many things in George’s world. George was a champ while we were traveling and pretty much are everything we put in front of him. We still have a very good eater on our hands!

George says:

  • Mama
  • Dada
  • Bird
  • Duck
  • No
  • Bubbles
  • Bye-Bye
  • Hi
  • Blueberry
  • Strawberry
  • Raspberry
  • Water
  • Bear

And those are just the words we can make out. But, to be clear, he says these words in “baby-speak” and most of the words don’t sound the way an adult would pronounce them. George is very talkative these days and is very curious about words and sounds. He loves to mimic!

George took his first steps in November and he hasn’t slowed down since.  It is amazing how quickly he went from crawling to walking with speed.

George has twelve teeth and has four more teeth coming in. The four newest teeth are just below the surface and should be breaking the gum-line any day now. I’m hoping we can get through this round of teething quickly – please send good vibes our way!

When he is not teething, George is still sleeping 10 to 11.5 hours straight at night and 2 to 3 hours during the day in his crib. He occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night, but George is generally a great sleeper.

How I’m Changing (Body After Baby): I am down 83 pounds and feeling great.  That’s right — I have lost all the baby weight + 14 pounds.

How I’m Staying Active: Running, walking and light strength training are my exercise of choice these days. My FitBit is part of the reason I am staying on track — I love it! My friends and I have been doing fun challenges with them lately. I am also training for the 2015 Austin Half Marathon and am taking things pretty seriously this go round.

What’s Keeping Me Busy: In addition to being a Mom, I am still working full-time (from home) and am traveling more and more for work these days. I am blessed to be able to see George whenever I want when I work from home. I have also been more active socially and have been busy planning upcoming family trips and social events.

What’s New with George: Even though the temperature continues to drop (then fluctuate back up!?), George still loves our outdoor walks.  Thank goodness — these walks are great for the both of us. We manage to get outside every single day — rain or shine! George is also still really enjoying his Little Gym classes and seems to be having even more fun now that he can walk and get around faster.

What’s New at Cliffwood: I promise to get my act together soon and to put together a post on this.

The Nursery: No update here, but I can’t imagine we will have one until George moves into a toddler bed (wait…what?!).

He sure is saying a lot of words. That is awesome! Good luck with the weaning process. We “officially” weaned this week. Winter suddenly wants nothing to do with nursing, so that is that. Done. I am OK with it, but I’ve still been offering every day and she refuses and pushes me away. Hopefully you have a smooth transition!
