While in California, John, George and I were guests at The Loews Coronado Island.
Location – The hotel is about 15 miles from the San Diego airport — depending on the traffic, the commute can be anywhere from 20 minutes to 40 minutes. The hotel is located on Coronado Island and is situated in a little community with condos, house rentals and a marina. The hotel is adjacent to two beaches.
Customer Service – Service at the hotel was fabulous. Truly. John and I were overwhelmed with the great service that we received from every staff member we encountered. From reception, to housekeeping to the concierge, everyone was on point and ready to serve. For example, when John called the front desk and asked if we could borrow a high chair from the restaurant during our stay, staff delivered one to our room within five minutes. When George was in the main dining room, staff asked if we had a bottle or toys that needed sterilizing. Additionally, the conference services were great too. Everything ran smoothly, despite the large numbers of rowdy conference attendees.
Accommodations – We stayed four nights at the hotel and booked our room under a special conference rate. When we checked into the hotel, we were told that we had been upgraded to a larger room with a partial bay view. Score! We were located on the first floor of the second building (there were five) and we had a room with double beds. We don’t usually book two beds, but in the end it worked out because George insisted that he snuggle with me all night long. Hey – he’s teething and he’s 8.5 months old. How could I not indulge? The rooms were warm and cozy and the decor was calm and beach inspired.
Amenities – The hotel offers far more amenities than we could use during our stay. In addition to three restaurants, a coffee shop, juice bar, and two cocktail bars, the hotel offers many lounging areas. The hotel also has a fitness center, a spa, two pools and many in-hotel shops for souvenirs, food/drink, books, jewelry, art and the like. A beach/water activities desk also schedules and hosts a variety of activities. As previously mentioned, the hotel is adjacent to two beaches and the staff gladly ferries guests to them via golf cart. This hotel is very family-friendly, especially baby-friendly. If we had more free time, we would have loved to take advantage of some of the amenities.
Member Recognition – I signed up for Loews membership upon arrival, so we haven’t seen member recognition yet. However, I find it hard to believe that there is a level of service above what we received.
The Loews Coronado Island what very good to George, John and me. I am fiercely loyal to Starwood properties, but the Loews would be a contender if we visited Coronado Island again. Regardless, we would happily recommend this property to friends and family.
