George — Week 3

Timeline: I’m 3 weeks postpartum; George is 3 weeks old.

How We’re Feeling: We are both feeling better by the day. I’m still taking care of George all by my lonesome during the day, and together we have developed a nice little routine. Change, Eat, Play, Sleep…with a few cries thrown in there. I’m trying to nap when George does, but that doesn’t always work out.

How George is Changing: George continues to grow rapidly. I’m biased, but I think he is getting cuter!

How I’m Changing (Body After Baby): We’re 3 weeks post baby and I am still shrinking with very little effort. My belly continues to contract, but, make no mistake about it, it will take a lot of work to get back to where I was pre-pregnancy.

How I’m Staying Active: I’m still walking outside everyday with George, weather permitting. I’ve also added light weights back into my routine this week. I’m hopeful that my doctor will clear me for more strenuous exercising at my six-week postpartum check-up.

What’s Keeping Me Busy: Taking care of George and taking care of household chores are keeping me very busy these days. Since I am breastfeeding George, there isn’t a whole lot of time for much else these days.

What’s New with George: George loves the sound of the dishwasher! We have discovered that the sound of the dishwasher puts him right to sleep.  Naturally, John and I both use the “dishwasher” tune on our White Noise Apps when we need to get George to calm down or to go to sleep. George is also starting to babble — so cute!

What’s New at Cliffwood: Not much is new around here.  I made my first solo trip out of the house over the weekend. I had a twenty-minute trip to Randall’s for some groceries and everyone survived. Whew!

The Nursery: Sigh. Long story short…we had to start over with our nursery furniture. We just ordered a new crib, dresser, toddler conversion kit and changing top and they are expected to arrive by the beginning of December.  This time, we went with Oeuf furniture. Keep your fingers crossed!

New Mom Love: I was originally against the idea of getting one, but we ended up buying a diaper warmer. Georgie loves it! John thought we needed one since George cried when we used cold wipes during his diaper changes. No more tears with the warm wipes. Two points for Daddy!
