The Viceroy Riviera Maya

John and I spent last Sunday luxuriating at our hotel before returning to Houston early in the evening.  We spent the day eating great meals, relaxing on the beach and walking along the pier.

We really enjoyed the Viceroy Riviera Maya and would recommend the property to anyone. We have always admired the sister property in Zihuatanejo (my parents hosted a “welcome” reception there for our wedding in 2006, we rang in 2012 there and, most recently, we had a family dinner there this summer) and have been eager to experience the Riviera Maya location for ourselves.

The hotel has 41 private villas spread out among the property. We spent our brief stay in a Royal Villa with a jungle view.  Our room was spacious (1,000 square feet) and had a private plunge pool, covered patio, oversize bathroom and dressing room, rain shower and outdoor shower. We really enjoyed the privacy our room offered, including lots of silence, shade and beautiful nature sounds (birds, waterfalls, waves, etc…).

The property is large, with an intimate feel.  Amenities include a large pool, small Jacuzzi, library, fine dining restaurant (Marea), casual restaurant (Coral Grill), beach palapas, beach beds, a boutique, a gym, a spa and lots of space for lounging and relaxing.

I adore everything coral, and loved all of the coral touches around the property.  I am still kicking myself for not purchasing coral china I fell in love with in Positano in 2009! Guess I need to go back!?

The food and customer service at the hotel were truly exceptional and the beach and views were stunning.  The only glitch we experienced was a brief issue with hot water — however, that was easily and quickly resolved.

You must visit the Viceroy Riviera Maya. You won’t be disappointed!
