Ski Deer Valley

Today I skied for the first time in at least 20 years.  Fortunately, I survived without injury or severe exhaustion! :mrgreen:

Our day began with breakfast in our room. I had Rice Krispies with a banana.

Go, gluten free foods! Our butler (ha!) also provided us with complimentary hot coffee and homemade hot chocolate.  My hot chocolate was super chocolate-y and sweet — delicious!

After breakfast, we went down to the Ski Shop and rented skis, boots and poles.  Then the ski valet (yes — we couldn’t believe it either) helped us get into our boots and onto our skis.  We were both pretty embarrassed by how over-the-top and gracious everyone was in helping us get out the door and onto skiing.  As John put it, “this is not normal skiing.” Didn’t think so! 😉 John and I skied for almost four hours, naturally taking the bunny and intermediate slopes. I pretty much remembered everything from my previous ski experience and only fell twice — both while getting of the lifts. Yes, I am that girl. Doh! The views from the runs were amazing!

Before we knew it, it was time for lunch.  And what a lunch it was! We had several lunch venues to chose from and we chose the Royal Street Cafe.  Among other things, the menu featured edamame, Korean BBQ burgers and homemade pasta.  Yes, I’d say this isn’t traditional skiing. I opted for the turkey burger and parmesan truffle fries. Ha Ha Ha! I know — don’t say anything.

After lunch, John skied for a while longer…

and I retired to my room to do some work.  Yes, you read that correctly.  I worked away the afternoon today!

Don’t I look great without make-up and with awesome helmet hair.  Umm…that’s a NO. I’m so glad we skied today and I can’t wait for another opportunity to get back on skis.
