African Forest

For years, John and I have been looking forward to the opening of the African Forest exhibit at the Houston Zoo. The exhibit opened yesterday and we visited it today!

One of the highlights of the exhibits is the addition of chimpanzees to the Zoo. They are awesome.

Due to the excellent exhibit design, engagement with the chimpanzees is easy and encouraged.  We were also excited to see the new white rhinos.

They were resting, but still very cute and exciting to view.  Finally, we made our way to the phenomenal new giraffe exhibit.

The new exhibit features a feeding station (see picture above).  You pay $5.00 for 3 lettuce leaves and are allowed to feed the giraffes! Wow! It was a dream come true for me!

So cool! We were very impressed with the new exhibitions.  If you have some time, please make your way to the Zoo to check out the African Forest. You (and your kids?) will not be disappointed!

I’ll have to check it out. The zoo is where I go to clear my head. The elephants and giraffes are my favorites, so I’m excited to see the new giraffe habitat.
