Land of Lagniappe – Take Two

We spent a very fun weekend at the L’Auberge Resort and Casino in Louisiana.

For the second year in a row, my parents have generously sponsored a weekend away for the whole family. Thanks, Mom and Dad! :mrgreen:The fun started at dinner at Le Cafe on Friday night. We enjoyed a nice meal and caught up on each other’s lives. My Dad and I both had the chicken and sausage gumbo. It was fabulous.

Spicy and brimming with delicious flavors. Afterwards the family hit the tables while John and I hit the sack. It may seem boring, but John worked all day and I had an early morning run scheduled. Apparently we missed out because Lady Luck was on their side last night. Wowza! Saturday morning came early and Nelda an I hit the golf course for a 5 mile run. It was super hot and very humid, but it felt so good! Nelda was a good pacer and kept me moving. She also kept me motivated by telling me to “get out of my comfort zone” and that I was doing a good job. After a quick breakfast with my parents, we hit up Nevie Beach Club! It was fun, sun and Bloody Mary’s pool side!

We laughed, we drank, and tanned. Then, we ate. Nel and I shared a turkey burger with bacon, guacamole and Monterey Jack cheese and a bag of Zapps. It tasted sooooo goooood.

We all ended up in our (the Arnold’s) room to watch the World Cup’s USA vs. England game. GOOAAAALLLLLL! After the game I took a shower and quick nap. For dinner, we all met up at Jack Daniel’s for dinner.

We started with gator bites. They were good, but chewy.

Not sure about those.  My Mom and I both had the Chicken Pot Pie for dinner.

Holy Portion Size! My platter looked family size! I ate all of my steamed green beans and barely made a dent in my pot pie, but it was delicious. For dessert, each couple shared a dessert and John and I had the brownie.

Mom and Dad had the bread pudding. Nel and Zach had the apple brown betty and Rene and Julie had the pecan pie.

Food Coma Time! While everyone gambled, the Arnolds retired. I know, LAME, but we had early morning planned. I say planned, because our hallway hillbilly neighbors RUINED them with their late night/early morning antics. 👿 I was up every hour and was incapable of running 8 miles this morning. I was disappointed, especially since this was another opportunity to run with Mi Coach. She is going to make me pay later! 😉 After brunch this morning, we all departed back to Baytown/Houston. We all had a Great Time; a casual, laid-back family-filled time. I love my family!
